The Midlands Patient Safety Research Collaboration is dedicated to advancing healthcare quality by focusing on critical areas that impact patient outcomes. The Cross-cutting theme conducts research investigating the impact of organisational culture and practices on patient safety. It also seeks to improve clinical processes, in line with the other themes. One of our primary initiatives aims to improve the follow-up care for patients with pulmonary nodules, facilitating early diagnosis of lung cancer and reducing potential harm. This project integrates systematic reviews, qualitative insights from both patients and healthcare professionals, and the development of innovative data analysis tools to ensure effective and timely patient monitoring.
Additionally, we are committed to fostering a positive safety culture within healthcare environments by addressing unprofessional behaviours among staff. Through reviews and primary research, we seek to identify and implement effective strategies that promote respectful and collaborative interactions among healthcare workers. By enhancing workplace dynamics, we aim to create safer and higher quality care settings for all patients, ultimately contributing to a more supportive and effective healthcare system.
