WP1 – Risk identification: Project 3

Acceptability and use of clinical decision support tools (CDST) in maternity settings: Systematic review of qualitative studies

Failure to identify and respond to risk is a major cause of preventable maternal and perinatal deaths. Clinical decision support tools (CDSTs) can support risk assessment and clinical decision-making.  A qualitative systematic review of studies published between 2010 and 2025 has been completed. Sixteen studies involving 1,639 women were included. CDSTs were generally viewed as acceptable and effective, helping to improve care through timely risk assessment. Key enablers included training, incentives, and transparency, while barriers involved computer literacy and language.
